由中国艺术研究院主办的首届“中国戏曲艺术国际学术讨论会”,于一九八七年四月十五日至二十一日在北京召开。会议由我国著名戏曲理论家张庚、郭汉城主持。中宣部副部长王维澄、文化部副部长英若诚、中国戏剧家协会主席、著名剧作家曹禺、中国艺术研究院副院长李希凡、中国剧协副主席刘厚生及在京戏曲界知名人士近二百人出席了开幕式。张庚、英若诚、曹禺、王维澄等先后作了热情洋溢的讲话。他们热烈地欢迎国内外学者共同来京探讨中国戏曲艺术。戏曲是中国特有的艺术珍品,是世界文化的重要组成部分,不仅为中国人民所喜爱,在国际上也享有很高声誉。尤其是近几年来出现了国外戏曲艺术爱好者用外语演出我国的传统戏曲剧目——美国夏威夷大学戏剧系魏莉莎
The first “International Symposium on Chinese Opera Arts”, organized by the China Academy of Art, was held in Beijing from April 15 to January 21, 1987.
