《檀香刑》的创作是莫言对中国传统小说复归与西方现代文学元素融合尝试的典范作品。有别于莫言一系列作品,《檀香刑》摒弃纯粹的西方元素和现代色彩,旨在复归中国古典小说。传奇式的故事建构、中国戏曲元素的引入与中国式的隐喻构成其独特的美学特征。同时,作品中所呈现的中国式悲天悯人与隐含的对国民性思考也使《檀香刑》较莫言其他作品更为厚重。本文拟从《檀香刑》的文本隐喻、小说对中国传奇手法与西方技巧的融合以及莫言式小说写作的特征入手,解析《檀香刑》对传统与现代的融合及莫言式的文学审美。
The creation of “Sandalwood Punishment” is a typical example of Mo Yan’s attempt to integrate Chinese traditional novels and western modern literature elements. Different from a series of Mo Yan works, “Sandalwood punishment” to abandon the purely Western elements and modern colors, aims to return to Chinese classical novels. The construction of legendary stories, the introduction of Chinese opera elements and the Chinese-style metaphors constitute their unique aesthetic features. At the same time, the compassionate Chinese people and the implicit thinking on the nationality presented in the works also make Sandalwood more imposing than other works. This paper starts from the textual metaphor of “Sandalwood Penalty”, the fusion of Chinese legends and western techniques and the characteristics of Mo Yan’s novels, and analyzes the fusion of tradition and modernity and the Mo Yan’s literary aesthetics.
