对浙江省临安市、开化县和庆元县3个产地速生杉木的纤维形态及基本密度的观测结果表明:胸高处由髓心向外,纤维长度随年轮数的增加而增加,由基部到梢部先增大后减小;纤维的平均长度(L)产地不同而不同,L临安>L开化>L庆元;纤维的长宽比随年轮数的增多而逐渐增大。速生杉木胸高部位基本密度ρ开化>ρ临安>ρ庆元。同一杉木不同高度上基本密度的变化规律为:基部和梢部较大,中部较小;自髓心向外,髓心较大,后逐渐变小(2~4年轮),此后(第6年轮后)逐步平稳增大。基本密度的差异也存在于不同产地的杉木之间。
