美育,也叫审美教育、美感教育或情感教育,是教育的一个重要组成部分。《语文课程标准》明确指出:语文课程应重视提高学生的品德修养和审美情趣,使他们逐步形成良好的个性和健全的人格,促进德、智、体、美的和谐发展。中学语文教材中蕴含着丰富的审美素材,而古典诗词更是美的化身,它是我们中华民族的国粹,是我们一代又一代炎黄子孙的精神食粮。
