Metaphor is a psychological association process, but also the manifestation of the tendency of human language development. Metaphorical cognition refers to the process of mapping from the source domain to the target domain. It is not only a linguistic phenomenon, but also a process of transferring thinking from one’s cognitive domain to another’s cognitive domain. Poetry is the focus of metaphor, providing a good corpus for studying the mechanism of metaphor. This article uses the sonnets of Shakespeare’s sonnets as the corpus, excerpts from the more typical metaphors, and analyzes the process of its rise from the meaning of the metaphysics to the noumenon in order to clarify the mechanism of the metaphor. Through the study of Shakespeare’s poetry, it is found that metaphor, through the hidden logic and the empathy of empiricism, transmits the cognition, thus revealing the mystery of the feeling of “taking the lead”.
