Painting circles often mention painting yak, followed by Mao Wei’s name. In the recent ten years, Mao Wei has repeatedly gone deep into the sketching of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Although the forms of the yaks in the plateau are different, the spiritual nuclei they convey are very similar: vigorous, simple, heavy and down-to-earth. Whether it is artistic life or real life, this painter, like the yak on the plateau, displays the character and spirit of the cow most vividly. Mao Wei’s other identity is a professor at the Chinese Academy of Drama. Not long ago, I followed Professor Mao Wei and specially experienced his art education class.
