关于编辑工作的实质问题的讨论,见诸报刊者已多。有人认为编辑工作的实质是评价;有人认为编辑工作是一种“精神建筑活动”;有人认为,在传播者——编辑——接受者的交往关系中,以及在作者——编辑——读者的创造关系中编辑都是中介环节,因此表现出导向功能(以限制交往活动中的盲目性)和协调关系,节制矛盾的功能(以维系创造活动中的同一性),这就是编辑的社会本质属性。关于编辑工作的实质的这些评价,以及由此派生出来的其他诸说,以笔者管见,仅说及了编辑工作的主动传递的一个方面。这些观点,或多或少地忽略了(有些是有意识地忽略了)被动传递的这一方面。即作者的科学生产交编辑理解、消化、吸收、判断;读者反馈的交流信息交编辑理解,思考、转送,受益等等,都体现了编辑工作的被动传递的社会本质属性。

These views, more or less neglected (some are consciously ignored) passively pass this aspect. That is, the compilation, compilation, understanding, thinking, transmitting, benefiting, etc. of the compilation of information exchanged by the readers reflect the social essential attributes of the passive transmission of editorial work.
