我们知道,聪明的物质基础是大脑和智力的发育.现代医学已经证明,出生后第一年,脑的发育很快,从出生时的350克到1岁时的1000克,增长近二倍(成人为1350克).所以从脑的发育来说,生后决定性的时期是在1～2岁,尤其是6个月以内.从智力方面来看,如果以17岁少年的智力发育水平为100,4岁时则已有50%,8岁时则为 80%.可见童年是大脑和智力发育的重要时期.
