Streptococcus pneumoniae is one of the leading causes of invasive infections in children younger than 5 years of age worldwide. The purpose of this study was to analyze antibiotic resistance and serotype distribution of S. pneumoniae isolates in pediatric populations in Tunisia, and to determine precisely Serotype coverage after introduction of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine. This study was conducted using the Neufeld assay against monovalent antisera (Statens Serum Institute) specific for the other serotypes included in the 7-valent, 10-valent, and 13-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccines.
