甌江工程是一个发电容量100多万瓩的大型水电站.垻高140公尺,垻址地質上最大特点是河床中有厚55公尺以上的砂卵石冲积层、从初步勘探成果了解,在砂卵石层中,部分地区发现有粘土夹层.此工程为大跃进中新增项目之一,要求争取1961年发电,保証1962年发电.工程的勘测、設計,施工均自1958年7月才开始.这个工程的垻型比较工作中,曾有过两种不同意见的争论:一种意见认为不应做当地材料垻,应做混凝土垻.持有这种意见的是一些负责工程师,其理由为:
The Lancang River Project is a large-scale hydropower station with a power generation capacity of more than 100 million tons. The elevation is 140 meters. The geological feature of the site is the sand-pebble alluvium that is more than 55 meters thick in the river bed.
