现代消费文化呈现出“二律背反”的相关特征。其一,消费文化的大众性与等级性。现代消费文化的愉悦性、世俗性、柔软性、平等性鼓励了消费的大众性特征,但“竞争”甚至是“区分”的消费模式却为等级性消费铺桥搭路。其二,消费文化的审美性与庸俗性。现代消费文化的审美走向娱乐化、感性化和享乐化,带来自身的庸俗化倾向。其三,消费文化的技术性与人文性。消费的科学技术化促使消费合理合法、使消费者坐享其成,但却使消费者某种程度上走向迷失。消费文化的“二律背反”面临着难以调和的困境,但却是可以选择的,引擎与控制来自社会。
