Trains and movies, as well as the railway space and the nickel coin theater linked by train and film, are not only all forms of modern public space, but also are inextricably linked with the shaping of female images and the relationship between women and public spaces. Feminist geography holds that the relationship between women and public space is pluralistic: on the one hand, women’s freedom rights in public space are often limited; on the other hand, public space also helps women avoid male domination and modern social norms. From the analysis of train of thought, this paper analyzes the female images in the train films from the late 19th century to the early 20th century in order to link up the railway space and the NiuYuan movie theater, starting from the two aspects of “women being infringed” and “women being pampered” Explores the way of shaping female images in such space, and examines the interaction between modern public space and mainstream discourse.
