中国史学从传统向近代的演变 ,经历了大约一个世纪。在这个演变过程中 ,史学家们从不同的方面做出了各自的努力和贡献。其中 ,章太炎是从理论上比较合乎理性地阐明上述问题的第一人。尽管章太炎并非主攻史学 ,但他于 2 0世纪初在这方面所做出的贡献 ,却占有重要的地位。第一 ,章太炎对传统史学不作全面的否定 ,而采取分析的态度。第二 ,章太炎探讨史学起源 ,认为各国有其共性 ,所谓“古史多出神官 ,中外一也” ,而中国自亦有其个性。第三 ,章太炎认为新的历史撰述应把中西作史的优点结合起来 ,如“义法”与“事迹”相结合、“分时”与“分类”相结合、“新思想”与“古经说”相结合等。章太炎的史学思想不仅有时代意义 ,而且有历史价值。
Chinese history from the traditional to modern evolution, has experienced about a century. In this evolution, historians made their own efforts and contributions in different aspects. Zhang Taiyan’s historical thought not only has the significance of the times, but also has historical value.
