联通2.1GHz频段有25MHz待分配频谱资源,是未来WCDMA升级及LTE FDD部署的重要频段,因此需要提前规划WCDMA和LTE FDD部署方案。UMTS、LTE两种系统独立部署方式,加剧了天面资源紧张,同时增加了机房能耗,对网络建设和管理带来巨大挑战。为了加快LTE部署,同时考虑建设及运维成本,提高用户体验,建设UL2100多模网络来满足未来UMTS向LTE网络演进的需求。
