近年来,湖南省桂阳县以“加快追领步伐、建设幸福桂阳”为目标,牢固树立“长期发展靠稳定,长期稳定靠发展”的理念,切实创新社会管理,落实综治措施,强化打击防范,开创了发展与稳定互促、富民与安民共进的良好局面,先后被评为全国普法先进县和全国平安畅通县。2010年,全县实现GDP163亿元,完成财政总收入11.07亿元,县域经济综合实力连续5年稳居全省20强。
