“真实”是巴别尔的文本特征之一。在他享誉世界的短篇小说集《骑兵军》中,苏波战争战场内外的残酷图景被不加遮掩地推至读者眼前,毫无偏见的写实口吻甚至令人难以摸清作者的真实立场。他力求客观、真实地描摹出百分之百的现实,这里既有历史的真实,又有叙述的真实。历史的真实,即作者在多大程度上对历史事实进行了复现,而叙述的真实指的则是作者借助什么样的叙述手段实现了文本的自然化和真实感。巴别尔的笔触如同历史本身一样冷酷无情。然而,战争伦理与人性伦理的冲突,犹太情结与哥萨克情结的纠缠,时时刻刻都在冲击着巴别尔的内心,并在其小说的字里行间发出清晰的回声。
“True ” is one of Babel’s textual features. In his world-famous short story collection, “Cavalry Corps,” the brutal picture inside and outside the Soviet-Polish war battlefield is unobtrusively pushed to the eyes of readers. The unpretentious portrayal of portraits makes it even harder to find out the true position of the author. He sought to objectively and truly portray one hundred percent of the reality, here both the truth of history and the truth of narration. The truth of history, namely, the extent to which the author has reproduced the historical facts, and the true meaning of the narration refers to what kind of narration means the author realizes the naturalization and authenticity of the text. Babel’s strokes are as cold and heartless as history itself. However, the conflicts between war ethics and human ethics, the entanglement of Jewish complex and Cossack complex always impact Babel’s heart and send a clear echo in the lines of his novels.
