与长江三角洲和珠江三角洲经济区比较,分析海峡西岸经济区三次产业产值结构和从业人员结构与城市化进程的关系,总结出海峡西岸经济区城市化发展的一些特征,包括:第二、三产业从业人员比重和产值提升促进城市化率及其年递增幅度的增长;第二产业产值和从业人员增长促进第三产业产值和从业人员增长;城市化中前期,第二、三产业产值比重共同增长,城市化后期第三产业产值的增长降低了第二产业产值比重,城市化发展进入质的提高阶段;海西经济区工业化快速发展伴随着快速城市化,第二、三产业蓬勃发展促进人口集中于城市。基于海峡西岸经济区的经济发展水平处于工业化和城市化进程中期,提出海峡西岸经济区规划与建设应重点放在城市经济发展上,促使各城市良性发展,并在自由发展过程中具备城市群的基本要素。
