吉林省九台县羊草沟煤矿区地层为侏罗系上统沙河子组与白垩系下统营城子组,被第四系黄土覆盖。主要岩性从上至下为砂砾岩、流纹岩、玄武岩、膨润土、泥页岩、煤和沸石等。这些岩石的特性是水敏性强,遇水变软,易崩解,造浆性强。其中砂砾岩硬度不一,胶结松散;流纹岩解理发育,具有气孔构造,常出现小溶洞,易发生漏失;玄武岩结构完整,含硅质成份较高,较硬;膨润土有钙基、钠基两种,遇水后都极易膨胀,使孔壁缩径和坍塌;泥页岩为泥质结构,块状构造,水敏性强;煤层质软,解理发育,易被水冲蚀和破碎;沸石结构完整,致密块状。
