In the Tulenovo field in northeastern Bulgaria, artificially constructed marshes are used to treat water containing crude oil and harmful heavy metals (cadmium, copper, lead, manganese and iron). Water has a pH of 53 to 68, containing 2 to 10 mg / l of petroleum, and the concentration of heavy metals exceeds 2 to 8 times the allowable standard for agricultural and / or industrial water. Sewage flow rate of about 0 1 ~ 0 5l / min. Marsh covers an area of about 200m2, deep about 35 ~ 40cm. Marshlands are rich in aquatic and terrestrial plants, and different types of microorganisms. The main plant species in the wetlands are broad-leaved cattail, narrow-leaf cattail, reed, water onion, rushes and different algae. Micro-organisms contain different heterotrophic and autotrophic microorganisms, including different petroleum-degrading bacteria and fungi. After the treatment of wetlands, the crude oil content in the water is less than 0 2mg / l, the content of heavy metals is lower than the allowable standard, and the removal of crude oil is related to the degradation of local growth microorganisms. The removal of heavy metals is mainly related to bacterial dissimilation and sulfate reduction and biosorption
