量具、刃具、轴承部體及其它精密嵌合部件等,不仅要求有一定形状、尺寸、精确度,而且还都要求有一定的表面光洁度.提高了表面光洁度就能改进和提高工體的物理和机械性能。在一般情况下,光洁度提高就能使精确度提高,動作顺利,效率提高,寿命延长。任何工件表面放大后都会显露出高低不平的波状起伏,这起伏程度就决定着表面光洁度,最通用的一种是以表面起伏的方均根值Hcx来表示,它的计算如下式(参考图1).
