在解决社会问题时,不是仅仅推出一种产品,而是围绕产品去构建一种模式,提供一整套的解决方案。如果用两张A4纸为材料搭起一个架子,你可以在这个架子上放多少根玉米?这个看起来很奇怪的问题是每一个去麻省理工学院D-lab访问的人都会收到的挑战。目前最高的记录是28个!这个挑战并非只是在考验你的创造力,它的思路更具有实际的应用价值。在那些最贫穷的地区,当地的村民保护自己收获的粮食不被老鼠昆虫吃掉的唯一办法,便是就地取材,用最经济、最简便的方式搭建一个架子来存放。这样的解决方案技术含量非常低,却实实在在地解决了当地人每天面临的真实问题。
Instead of just launching a single product, the solution to the social problem is to build a model around the product and provide a complete solution. If you use two sheets of A4 paper as a material to put up a shelf, how many corn can you place on this shelf? The seemingly bizarre problem is the challenge everybody who visits D-lab at MIT . The highest record is currently 28! The challenge is not just to test your creativity, its ideas more practical value. In those poorest regions, the only way for local villagers to protect their own harvested food from rat insects is to collect materials locally and build a shelf in the most economical and convenient way. Such a solution has a very low technical content but actually solves the real problems that the locals face daily.
