Evodiamine is the main alkaloid in the fruit of E. rutaecarpa. It has capsaicin-like vanilloid receptor agonistic activity and no obvious taste. The strong spicy taste of capsaicin limits its application in weight loss. The authors used male C3H mice and SD rats to study the effects of evodiamine and Wuqi fruit extracts on preventing obesity. After fasting for 24 h, the mice were divided into two groups. The first group was fed with normal feed (control group), the other group was fed with 0.03% evodiamine, and after 12 days, the two groups were fasted for 1 day and then sacrificed.
