在丹东分离到的美国白蛾(Hyphantria cunea Drury)核型多角体病毒是一种致病力较强的毒株。感染三龄幼虫死亡率回归直线方程为:y=2.94+0.46x。Lc_(50)值为3.16×10~4PIB/毫升.设计的长90厘米、宽50厘米、高60厘米的繁毒箱,每箱次可繁殖病死虫尸2000余头,含多角体3.2×10~(-4)亿个。三年间经较大面积的防治试验,防治美国白蛾的适宜龄期为2~3龄,应用浓度0.67~1.8×10~7FIB/毫升,防治效果为87.8~99.3%。若与低浓度敌百虫混用,增效5~10%。
