Objectives To understand what causes primary glaucoma patients to the hospital for treatment and eventually glaucoma to be diagnosed. Design a hospital-based questionnaire. The study included 287 consecutive patients who had been diagnosed with primary glaucoma. Methods A set of questions was designed to conduct a hospital-based questionnaire for patients with glaucoma in this group. The questionnaire consisted mainly of the hospital where the patient was diagnosed with glaucoma for the first time, the reasons why the patient sought ophthalmology, the main symptoms of the patient and the diagnosis of glaucoma The main basis. The main indicators of statistical analysis of the main reasons for seeking medical treatment and symptoms, as well as patients understand the main diagnostic basis. Results The decreased visual acuity (87.7%), eye pain (80.8%) and redness were the reasons for seeking treatment in patients with acute angle-closure glaucoma. In chronic angle-closure glaucoma and open-angle glaucoma, 39.7% and 46.2% of cases complained of visual acuity. Some patients complained of ocular symptoms. However, these symptoms were mostly unrelated to glaucoma. About 25% The patient has no symptoms. 71% (205/287) of the patients that the intraocular pressure is the most critical for the diagnosis of glaucoma. In chronic angle-closure glaucoma and open-angle glaucoma, 75% of cases are diagnosed and at least one is already in the advanced stage of glaucoma. Conclusion Acute angle-closure glaucoma due to obvious symptoms, often lead the patient active treatment. Chronic angle-closure glaucoma and open-angle glaucoma are asymptomatic early, and they are diagnosed because of other non-glaucoma symptoms or a family history of glaucoma, hospital visits, or glaucoma found in routine physical examinations.
