Using an open combustion chamber and injecting fuel directly can significantly improve the fuel economy of a small diesel engine. For example, West Germany’s Supayem diesel engine is the improved diesel engine. Its displacement is 2445mL, the lowest fuel consumption rate is 224g / (kW · h) [165g / (PS · h)], which is 15% lower than the vortex chamber diesel engine. Ford Europe has mass-produced non-turbocharged direct injection FCD425 diesel engines. The combustion chamber is an open-type combustion chamber, because this combustion chamber has a small surface area, less heat loss, and can be started at a lower compression ratio (19). This means you can use a smaller starter.
