D.H. Lawrence’s last masterpiece Lady Chatterley’s Lover suffered a lot since it came to day. Now it has been proved not to be dirty, but clean, serious and full of the sense of beauty. The novel describes the love affairs between Lady Constance and her two lovers. Mick and Mellors, in fact, the real lover is Mellors, because it shows the author’s sexual ideas:the harmony of healthy soul and body. Lawrence focuses on the effect of industrialism on modern humanity. It describes the deformity and harmony of the sexual relation between men and women in order to show the tragic conflict between the modern industrial civilization and the human life. So it’s necessary to establish the ideal relationship in society, based on the healthy human nature. Because of the description of sexual love, the novel at first was hard to accept by people. However once we have comprehended Lawrence’s aim of his emphasis on the sexual act and thought, we can appreciate it at the height of philosophy and aesthetic appreciation. It’s really Lawrence’s contribution to literature.
