India, the small software country of the future and the big power of the Internet, India and China, is one of the four ancient civilizations. Today’s India not only has a population of more than 1 billion, it has become a second largest population after China, and it has attracted worldwide attention with its rapid development in the software industry. In the global software development market, India holds a 16.7% share; in the United States, where the information industry is most developed, India accounts for more than 60% of its software sales market share. No wonder Bill Gates has to exclaim that the future software superpower is not the United States, not Japan, nor Europe, but India. Using the phrase “new economic growth point” to describe the positioning of the information technology industry in the Indian economy can be said to be more appropriate. The rise of India’s information technology industry was only a matter of years, but it was an alarming rate and it had quickly become the fastest growing country in the world software industry. In recent years, the average annual growth rate has been maintained at more than 50%, while the average annual growth rate of the world software industry is 20%. 1999-2000, Indian Information Industry
