学术界对城市贱民的研究很少,特别是江浙沪地区的城市贱民——堕民。学术界对城市贱民起源问题的研究中,最具争议的问题就是堕民的起源问题。本文根据地方史志、文人笔记、堕民传说以及家谱记载等,提出堕民最初应是南宋时被贬的叛官降卒,元明改朝换代之际,战败者陆续被贬入贱民这一群体,一些罪臣和家奴也沦为堕民。 Academics rarely study urban untouchables, especially urban Dalits in Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai - falling into the country.
