Americans save less and spend more than anyone in any other country. Therefore, scholars in our country think the U.S. economy looks prosperous and virtually empty. In 1998, the United States experienced a trade deficit of 168.6 billion U.S. dollars. In the past eight years, the Central Bank of the People’s Republic of China also purchased about 550 billion U.S. dollars. This has enabled the United States to promote economic development through debt-service spending. As a result, the crisis can be approached at any time and the U.S. dollar devaluation is a foregone conclusion.
