Supply and marketing cooperatives are one of the socialist commercial forms in our country and a major force in the rural market. It is the bridge and link between the joint industry and agriculture, urban and rural areas, and production and consumption. From the point of view of buying and selling agricultural and sideline products for farmers, at present, a considerable part of China’s agricultural and sideline products sold as commodities are organized through supply and marketing cooperatives. In 1984, the total value of acquisitions of social agricultural and sideline products nationwide was 144 billion yuan, including supply and marketing agencies.
