和尚由长春护国般若寺的和尚栽培选育而成,故名“和尚”。主要特征叶片宽80~140毫米,长宽比为4:1~5:1,头型尖圆(桃型头),叶片斜立,略为向下弯曲,又向上翘起,脉纹明显,但凸起差(老派和尚),杂交结果多,小苗好看。“和尚”在中国君子兰发展史上起了关键的作用,是培育当代“短叶”、“圆头”、“圆头短叶和尚体”、“蜡膜花脸”、“横兰”等新品种的基础。经过广大君子兰养植者的辛勤培育,新的一派“和尚体”品种不断涌现,必将成为深受人们喜爱的优良品种。
