The Atlas series of giant bridge CMMs (see photo) at Giddings & Lewis Measurement System (formerly Sheffield Measurement) in the United States have a measurement space of 25m x 12m x 2m with high speed and accuracy of smaller measuring machines. Atlas series measuring machine moving speed of the beam of 30.5m / min, even faster than some smaller measuring machine. The machine’s frame moving parts are made of aluminum and are laser-positioned with a positioning accuracy of 0.006mm on the X and Y axes and a 0.005mm Z-axis.
