Developing Ecological Agriculture is an Important Measure for Implementing the Strategy of Sustainable Development in Our Country The Fourth Plenary Session of the 14th Central Committee of the Party and the Fourth Session of the Eighth National People’s Congress have established our country’s strategy of implementing sustainable development. China is a big agricultural country with a population of 1.2 billion, 71% of whom are engaged in agriculture. Therefore, the sustainable development of agriculture and rural economy is an important part of China’s strategy of implementing sustainable development. Since the reform and opening up, especially during the “Eighth Five-Year Plan”, China’s agricultural and rural economy has made remarkable achievements and strengthened its ability to carry forward sustainable development. Three improvements have been made in our national economy. First, the relationship between supply and demand of agricultural and sideline products has been somewhat improved. The pressure to ease the tension and tension between grain supply and demand has become abundant.
