A homologous series of 4’-methylphenyl 4“-[(4-alkoxy-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorophenyl)ethynyl]-benzoates have been synthesized. Polarizing microscopic textural observation shows that such compounds exhibit enantiotropic nematic phase.
