In 1975 and 1977 in the United States Los Angeles area, from two cases of acute myeloid leukemia, 3 cases of children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and 1 cases of intestinal adenocarcinoma with systemic metastasis in patients with blood culture were isolated 6 strains of bacteria of the genus Capnocytophaga. This group of bacteria has been identified as both physiologically and genetically identical to the DE-1 biota and the yellow bacteriophages of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
