拣选矿石时需要对逐个矿块进行评价并即丢除那些不值得进一步加工的块粒。与人工手选相竞争,一种拣选石棉矿的机器现已在澳大利亚C.S.R.研究实验室出现了。此外,还有一台白钨矿石拣选机也已装设在王岛白钨矿公司(King Island Scheelite,Ltd.)的矿山并获得了可喜的成果。这两项机器都采用的是一种获有专利的矿石处理系统装备,可使矿石在单行颗粒排队下达到高效处理。在石棉拣选机上所用测查手段是根据石棉纤维的低导热性,通过顺次加热和红外线扫瞄来探查石棉层。至于白钨矿拣选机则是在紫外线照射下进行萤光测查以定出白钨的含量。
The sorting of ore requires the evaluation of individual nuggets and the removal of those nuggets that are not worth further processing. In contrast to manual selection, a machine that picks asbestos is now available in the Australian research laboratory C.S.R. In addition, a scheelite picker has also been installed at the mine at King Island Scheelite, Ltd. and has achieved gratifying results. Both machines are equipped with a patented ore handling system that allows the ore to be efficiently processed in a single line of particles. Asbestos sorting machine used in the inspection method is based on the low thermal conductivity of asbestos fibers, by sequential heating and infrared scanning to detect asbestos layer. As for the scheelite picker, fluorometry was performed under ultraviolet light to determine the content of scheelite.
