Objective: To investigate the effect of severe abrasion on the expression of calcitonin gene-related petide (CGRP) in rat trigeminal ganglion. Methods: Seventy-five male Sprague-Dawley rats of 8 weeks old were randomly divided into control group, blank control group and experimental group with 25 rats in each group. In the experimental group, severe wear Animal model Five rabbits in each group were sacrificed on days 3, 7, 14, 21 and 28 respectively. Bilateral trigeminal ganglia were removed and the expression of CGRP in the trigeminal ganglion was observed by immunofluorescence staining. Results: Compared with the blank control group and the control group, the number of CGRP-positive neurons in the experimental group increased significantly on the 3rd day and the 7th day (P <0.05), and the number of CGRP-positive neurons in the 14th day and the 21st day (P <0.05), but remained normal in 28 days (P> 0.05). Conclusion: Severe wear can lead to the reversible change of CGRP expression in the trigeminal ganglion of rats.
