高压水具有强大的破坏力,可用作精密切割的工具,因此,它在工业上具有很大的应用潜力。当高压水流直射到某一目标上时,在被射击面上,它的速度实际上减小到零,水的大部分动能转变为压力能。在撞击后的最初百万分之几秒的时间内,瞬时压力比可能产生的名义临界压力大好几倍。如果局部流体压力超过目标的材料强度,水就会将达一物体击穿,在它上面穿出一个洞来。
High-pressure water has a powerful destructive power, can be used as a precision cutting tool, therefore, it has great industrial potential. When a high-pressure stream of water is directed at a target, its velocity actually decreases to zero at the surface being fired, and most of the kinetic energy of the water is converted to pressure energy. The instantaneous pressure is several times better than the nominal critical pressure that may be generated during the first few millionths of an impact. If the local fluid pressure exceeds the target material strength, the water breaks down an object and pierces a hole in it.
