Objective To observe the hypolipidemic effects of monounsaturated fatty acids-almonds in patients with hyperlipidemia. Methods Eighty-five patients with hyperlipidemia were enrolled. Subjects were given 75 g apricot almonds daily for 4 weeks and continued for 4 weeks after stopping taking. Serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL C), apolipoprotein AI (ApoAI) and apolipoprotein B (ApoB) were measured at 0 week, ). Results After taking almonds, TC and ApoB were significantly decreased and ApoAI was significantly increased. TC, LDL C and ApoB were significantly decreased in type II hyperlipidemia patients, and this effect lasted for at least 4 weeks. CONCLUSIONS: Monosodium glutamate-rich almonds have a good regulatory effect on the level of lipids and apolipoproteins in patients with hyperlipidemia.
