本文通过分析《胎记》的主题,并结合作者纳撒尼尔·霍桑的宗教信仰和思想矛盾,寻找胎记的象征意义。胎记象征不完美、衰退、死亡和罪孽,是凡人区别上帝的特征,试图造就完美只能导致毁灭。
This article tries to find out the symbolic meaning of birthmark by analyzing the theme of “birthmark” and combining the religious beliefs and ideological contradictions of Nathaniel Hawthorne. The birthmark’s imperfections, decay, death and sin are the distinguishing features of mortal men. Trying to create perfection can only lead to destruction.
