Appearing as the opposite voice to the authorship,spectatorship serves as a subversive power against the author theory and opens a new perspective for film studies. This paper approaches the spectatorship in the environment of the contemporary Hollywood film studio and analyses how the commercial films and mainstream films are oriented and influenced according to the reception and the feedback of the mass audience. Thus we can get the conclusion that the spectators’ response should also be included into the collaborative work of filmmaking.
