我国宋代的伟大科学家沈括,在他所著的“梦溪笔谈”中,详细地记录了当时的工农业生产情况及政治制度,并且发表了他的广博的科学论点。在“梦溪笔谈”中不仅有着丰富的光学、磁学知识,而且也有着丰富的声学知识。沈括对乐律很有研究,这方面在笔谈中占有很多篇幅。卷四第五条说:“予友人家有一琵琶,置之虚室,以管色奏双调,琵琶弦辄有声应之,奏他调则不应,宝之以为异物。殊不知此乃常理。二十八调但有声同者即应,若徧二十八调而不应,则是逸调声也。……偶在二十八调中人见其应,则以为怪,此常理耳。此声学之至要妙处也”。沈括在这一条里说明了共振现象的普遍存
