中国聋教育始于19世纪80年代,滞后于西方百年。20世纪前半期,中国处于半封建、半殖民地旧社会,聋教育发展缓慢。新中国诞生后,建立了社会主义社会,由于共产党的领导,聋教育事业有了较大发展。特别是在80年代改革开放以来,发展迅猛。如今,全国大多数省、市、县办有聋校,聋童入学率有很大提高,形成了一个涵盖学前教育、九年义务教育、高中教育、职业教育(含中专),高等教育的聋教育体制。经过教育,绝大多数聋人能自立于社会、服务于社会,奉献于社会。这应该说是我们社会主义国家聋教育的一个可喜的成
