I. Introduction High performance centrifugal compressors contain both high efficiency and wide operating range requirements. Backward impellers, in this case semi-open swept exit impellers with a ternary shape, outperform radial exit impellers (hereinafter referred to as radial impellers) in both efficiency and operating range due to its controllable load design. With the solution of the problem of material strength, the backward impeller has the tendency to replace the radial impeller in the power application step by step. Based on two kinds of flow theory of Professor Wu Zhonghua, the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics developed a set of methods for designing high-performance centrifugal compressor stages and carried out experimental research on compressor components
