Shearer does not ignite when cutting coal. However, when the cutting teeth accidentally cut into a rock (especially sandstone) friction heat will cause gas combustion. The higher the cutting speed, the more likely it is to ignite the gas. Therefore, the cutting of rock machinery, cutting its cutting speed is designed to be lower. However, it is completely safe for cutting speed in a given environment. Is there any other effective measures to prevent ignition and ignition of gas? There is also very little information on this. Such information can only be obtained through actual tests. As a result, the Knokster Laboratory was equipped with a 37 kW (50 horsepower) large experimental rock cutting machine. This cutting machine can cut a few centimeters deep in the plane of a rotating rock (grindstone) with a diameter of 1.45 meters. Rocks and cutting tools are placed in a closed box filled with a mixture of methane and air. The cutting tool transverses the rock diameter during rock rotation resulting in a spiral slit.
