谈起翻译的标准,在中国早有严复倡言的“信、达、雅”三重标准。其后,新的说法不断出现,似乎也不外是对严说的讨论。信、达、雅三者,严复置“信”——忠实于首位。要达到这一标准,姑且不谈译文的质量,原作的取舍就是一个起码的条件。笔译是用一种文字转述另一种文字的行为,以使不懂原文的读者能阅读原作的内容。这大概可说是翻译的基本目的。据此,笔者以为翻译应是对原作的全面转述,把原作的意思忠实地转达给本国的读者。目前出版的翻译著作,存在不少令人费解
