The Powerbook, one of Jeanette Winterson’s latest novels, could be seen as the most representative of her anti-essentialist views. Therefore, with the help of feminist theories, the essay aims to explore how Winterson subverts the traditional ideology of femininity and the patriarchal paradigm of gender and sexuality in this novel, and further attempts to uncover the power in this Powerbook.
