教育出版社的现状主要体现在如下两个方面:一是教育出版社作为传播文化知识的事业单位,在图书出版上必须面对十分强调意识形态的国情,同时又是自负盈亏的企业,必须面对市场求得生存和发展。此点与其他出版社是共同的。二是按一些同仁的提法,“教育出版社姓‘教’”,依照出版业的分工,主要出版教育类图书。随着升学竞争的加剧和就业学历要求的日益提高,大多数教育出版社在上述基本现状的制约和提供的有利条件下,在市场需求的驱使下,出版了愈来愈多的教辅类图书。如果说,教育出版社的同仁们不是踌躇满志,起码也是心满意足。教育出版社积累了较雄厚的资金,获得了更多的国家图书奖,违规违禁图书少见。这些成绩的取得当然离不开教育出版社同仁的努力,但或许更依靠上述的基本现状。
