In the face of the international oil crisis, all railways are striving to improve locomotive traction characteristics and economic efficiency under the precondition of ensuring certain reliability and durability of diesel locomotives. Over the years, the domestic diesel locomotive traction characteristics and the use of economic evaluation of the public numerous. In this paper, Dongfeng 4 and Beijing are taken as examples to make some relative comparisons with the corresponding foreign locomotives in the aspects of traction characteristics and economical efficiency measured by the experiment, so as to teach people who know it.
