The radical Black American leftist scholar Gerald Horne, “Counterrevolutionary in 1776: The Rebellion against Slaves and the Origins of the United States,” uses a large amount of first-hand information and transnational perspectives to argue that the American revolution is protected by white colonies in North America The conservative efforts of slavery are a counter-revolution. Horn’s black identity, unique experience and his radicalism prompted him to come up with a completely different view of the American revolution than the mainstream American academic. However, Horn’s book poses a serious problem of spatiotemporal misplacement. It does not understand historical figures and historical events in the context of time and space, so it is overkill.
